Resumes and Branding for Nonprofit Professionals

Finding a job can be a tough process. Whether you are a student or a seasoned professional, there is no exception and the nonprofit sector feels the same struggles.

Last month the Young Nonprofit Professional Network of St. Louis wanted to provide a job search workshop series to help prepare all individuals with a passion for nonprofits. As a member of the board and marketing committee I volunteered to share my knowledge on resumes and branding for two sessions. I have experience in both subjects and knew that this would be a great opportunity to teach others.

#STLSocialGood Provides Nonprofits with Digital Solutions

Everyday thousands of nonprofits are typing tweets, snapping pictures and trying to get more likes. As professionals working in those nonprofits, we are continuing to adapt to the changing ways in we which communicate with donors, volunteers and advocates but each organization has to make the decision to devote time, money and resources to these new opportunities. Today, Saint Louis organizations and experts shared ways to make this easier for all of us.

Social Media Club of Saint Louis partnered with Ready  + Willing as well as sponsor, Fontbonne University to present the #STLSocialGood Conference. The event focused on social media, analytics, ROI and how to do more with less. The three sessions were each very informative but session one with Ashley Riley from Gateway Pets Guardians (@Gatewaypets) provided an exceptional overview of general ways to advance social media presence.

End of an era, opening of opportunity

Era, in this instance, meaning 18 years. That is 6570 days of wondering what am I going to learn, why there are letters in math, who cares what the capitol of Oregon is and in the summers, what color will my new trapper be? All very important things to worry about, but now that school is over and I am an official Alumnus of Northwest Missouri State I don’t have emergency yoga breathing before a Communication Law test.

Gone Fishing

“We have many social media accounts and we have little idea how to work them. Our club is looking for someone with experience with these sites to assist us in managing them. We were wondering if your club, AdInk, could help us out?” This was part of the email I received from the Northwest Fishing Club president asking for our help. With the skills of all the members in our group, I knew AdInk could do the job! So I assumed the role of account coordinator and started the process!
